PEDIATRIC DEPARTMENT FOR PREMATURE INFANTS

The capacity of the department is 30 beds. The department is Level II division of developmental care.

Our main activities are to provide treatment and rehabilitation to infants in the neonatal period.

We admit pre-term infants from the department of intensive care and the neonatal unit of City Maternity Hospital No.2, nurse, treat and rehabilitate them.

We use the latest equipment, innovative nursing and rehabilitation techniques and modern methods of examinations to provide care to premature infants. Moreover, we apply non-drug methods of rehabilitation, including exercises with a gym ball, physical therapy and massage.

In most cases, mothers stay together with their babies in wards. Rooming-in in combination with modern treatment techniques significantly enhance the effectiveness of diagnostics and treatment.

Our team consists of experienced and highly professional neonatologists, who are always ready to help and support.

Babies are either on breast-feeding or on formula-feeding (if breast-feeding it impossible for any reasons). We use human milk fortifiers with a view to preserve breast-feeding even for babies with an extremely low birth weight.

We apply an individual approach in our work and comply with the principles of protective regimen.
