DEPARTMENT OF DIAGNOSTIC ULTRASOUND

The Department of Diagnostic Ultrasound of City Maternity Hospital No.2 is one of the largest and best-equipped departments of diagnostic ultrasound in the Republic of Belarus. The team of experienced medical professionals carry out:

  • fetal ultrasound examinations, extended echocardiography, Doppler imaging of placental and fetal blood flow, 3D ultrasound image reconstruction;
  • brain ultrasound examination (neurosonography) with Doppler imaging of cerebral vessels (the procedure is carried out before the closure of the anterior fortanelle);
  • ultrasound examination of internal organs in infants;
  • ultrasound examination of pelvic joints in infants;
  • thyroid ultrasound examination;
  • breast ultrasound examination;
  • ultrasound examination of the abdominal cavity and kidneys;
  • ultrasound examination of the prostate, urinary bladder and post-void residual urine test;
  • scrotum ultrasound;
  • 2D and 3D pelvic ultrasound examination (abdominal and vaginal), colour and power Doppler imaging of the uterus and uterine appendages.

How to prepare for an ultrasound examination.

You should fast before the abdominal ultrasound:

  • avoid gas-producing foods – milk, cabbage, dark bread, beans, fresh vegetables and fruits, sweet dishes – the day before the examination;
  • take an absorbent substance before bed (the dosage is prescribed by a physician).

Your urinary bladder should be full before the ultrasound examination of the prostate and urinary bladder:

  • drink 1 liter of liquid 2-3 hours before the examination and do not urinate.

Your urinary bladder should be full before the abdominal ultrasound examination of the pelvic organs:

  • drink 1 liter of liquid 2-3 hours before the examination and do not urinate.

Take a disposable drape with you.

There is no need to prepare for other types of ultrasound examinations.
